Soul Mates

What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined together to strengthen each other in all labour, to minister to each other in all sorrow, to share with each other in all gladness, to be one with each other in the silent unspoken memories.
~George Elliot~

A parting shot from our visit to southwest Wisconsin -
Shortly after our arrival at the small potato farm, M&M (Mom and her Gardening Buddy,) are first to notice the old barn. Walking down the lane hand in hand, they're off for a closer look.

I'm so glad they found each other. They go together like peas and carrots.

Oh Linda, how wonderful that they found each other and also how wonderful that you can rejoice in that. I am very lucky to have found my soul mate in the Financier early on.

Good morning Frances, I couldn't agree more! It's such a pleasure to spend time with two people who adore each other!

  7. What a wonderful moment, I am glad that they were able to find each other. It is even better that you can find joy in the fact that mom found a new soul mate. So many people feel bitter that their parent can move on after the loss of their other parent.

I too am lucky to have found my soul mate early as well. Now I just have to help him get his health to hold out.

  8. Good morning Cinj, isn't it sad when children feel threatened by a parent's happiness!

It brings joy to our family to see how happy they are together.

  9. How sweet! I bet they'll pair peas and carrots in their garden in honor of your analogy.

  10. Good morning Tina, if they don't, I might have to! This week I've been working on a veggie plot for next spring.

  11. No greater joy than finding a fellow gardening buddy, heh? Walli my neighbor is mine. She is 25 years older, but you couldn't tell it in her gardening skills and energy level for it!

  16. Hi Brenda, it's so nice that you have a neighbor who shares your love of gardening!

Thank you Marnie! Me too - I'm a hopeless romantic!

Thanks Racquel, I'm happy for her that she's got such a wonderful husband/friend/soul mate/gardening buddy!

Hi Skeeter, isn't that such a pretty spot! Nice place for a stroll in some crunchy leaves!

Thank you VP, glad you enjoyed it, and glad you enjoyed the fall photos.

  17. I'm not overly fond of either peas or carrots*, but I totally get what you mean. That's so sweet!

*Which is odd because I like most vegetables. I can eat them to be polite, but would not seek them out. The only veg I won't eat at all are olives (though I fancy their oil!).

  18. Linda, thank you and all your readers for your lovely comments. That photo called to mind some lyrics from 'September Song':
"Oh, its a long, long way
    From May to December
    But the days grow short
    When you reach September.
    When the Autumn weather
    Turns the leaves to flame....
    And these few precious days
    I'll spend with you.
These golden days I'll spend with you'

    I've always loved that song.

  20. Hi Monica, the peas and carrots reference is from Forrest Gump, one of my all-time favorite movies.

I don't like those big mushy peas, but baby peas and carrots, snow peas and carrots, sugar snap peas and carrots. . . the fresh ones, not frozen. . . mmmmm! And I LOVE olives too!

Hi Mom, I remember that song. It's beautiful, and a perfect accompaniment to the picture.

I'm glad I was there for this moment, and glad I had the camera at hand to capture it.

    Love you both!

Thank you Alberto! That's definitely my favorite shot from our visit, and one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken.
