Spring Fling Chicago!

Last Spring the garden bloggers of Austin, Texas held the first garden bloggers' Spring Fling meetup, where garden bloggers from around the country gathered for a weekend of garden-related and garden blogging events. Gardens were toured, wonderful discussions took place, meals were shared, and friendships were made and strengthened. The weekend was such a hit that those attending decided it would be great to do it again in Chicago in the spring of 2009.

Mr. McGregor's Daughter was fortunate to attend the Austin Fling, and brought the idea back to Chicago where the brainstorming and planning began.

Thanks to Mr. Brown Thumb, our official website is up and ready for prime time. We're very grateful for his hard work and expertise in planning and designing the site. He's done a wonderful job!

Please visit the Chicago Gardeners site early and often for the latest Chicago Spring Fling information and updates.

We have a dedicated group of Chicago-area garden bloggers participating in the planning, helping to assure an exciting, memorable event for all our guests. We're looking forward to hosting the 2nd annual garden bloggers' Spring Fling and sharing our beautiful city in a garden.

Spring is just around the corner, so hurry on over to Chicago Gardeners for the scoop! We hope you'll make plans to join us for the 2nd annual garden bloggers' Spring Fling - Chicago style.

Hi Linda, I am so excited too and signed up, but it wouldn't let me post a photo and makes me use the blogger sign in instead of wordpress. I just want to be included! I have been saving my pennies and eagerly await the details. Thanks to you all for working so hard on this.

Excellent Gail! Looking forward to meeting you! Thanks for signing up. We might need to add a little explanation about that box.

Hi MMD, It's going to be a great time!

  8. Hi Frances, so glad you're on board and saving those pennies!

I'm sorry Blogger won't let you post a picture. It's probably one of those proprietary things that needs a google account. I'm glad it let you join, in spite of the google sign. When I mouse over it your name comes up. I was glad to see that.

I hope you can make it Skeeter! It would be great to meet you.

Thank you for the mention and link. You didn't have to do that it was very gracious of you.

  12. It's my pleasure Mr. Brown Thumb. I think I speak for all of us in the Chicago planning group in saying what a great job you did on the blog and on the event post.

Hi again Linda, I have changed my sign up to wordpress and deleted the blogger one, hope that doesn't mess anything up. I also signed up for the twitter thing and my computer about had a heart attack, although it is okay now. That is the best way to see when there is new info about it?

  17. Hi Frances, oooh, I'm sorry about the twitter attack! Glad everything's ok now.

I'm sure there's no problem with switching to your wordpress ID.

I must admit I've never done anything with Twitter, so I'm not sure if that would be the best way. I'm afraid I'm pretty technologically impaired! But I think our blog guru Mr. Brown Thumb would be able to answer, so I'll check in with him to learn the answer and get back to you.

  18. Hi again Frances, here's your answer from Mr. Brown Thumb:

"The blog has a feed, she can click
on the feed icon in her browser to
subscribe to it via RSS or use the Blogger follow feature if she is
already following other blogs on Blogger. The main post on SF will
stay on the front page but I'll be adding a couple of more pages that
will not show up on the front page but they will be there in the feed.
But the main page will always be the same so people know where to
    look."

    Hope this helps!

Sounds like a really fun event, and in a great city. I grew up in SW Michigan, so trips to Chicago were always a big deal with us.
